Outlook for 2022 Campus Hiring Survey findings from ~3,000 employers

*Due to the ongoing economic impact of COVID-19, the 51st annual report of campus recruiting trends will likely be one of the most relevant reports ever produced by MSU's Collegiate Employment Research Institute.

This year’s presentations will combine quantitative data collected from employers in August and September with qualitative data provided by employer partners to provide participants with meaningful insight into the impact of the pandemic on the college labor market, including internships/co-ops. It will also include an historical trends analysis and summary of some of the other major events in the U.S. and globally that both impacted and shaped college hiring and career services. From the data and trends, we can begin to understand the extent to which the college labor market will experience challenges, and the industries, degrees, and majors that will be especially impacted in 2022 and beyond.

More about Phil Gardner, Ph.D

Philip D. Gardner is Director of the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University. Dr. Gardner has been with MSU for more than 30 years after receiving degrees from Whitman College (BA in Chemistry) and Michigan State University (Ph.D. in Resource & Development Economics/Public Policy). His major areas of research include the transition from college to work, early socialization and career progression in the workplace, workforce readiness, and other areas related to college student studies. MSU’s nationally recognized annual college labor market study is done under his direction each fall. He also served as senior editor of the Journal of Cooperative Education and Internships, and in 2019, he was inducted into the NACE Academy of Fellows for his advancement of knowledge, leadership and excellence in his profession.
