The Career and Employer Relations Specialist works with students and employers on the Perimeter Campuses. Reporting to the Assistant Director of University Career Services, the Career and Employer Relations Specialist will provide career counseling and other programming to assist students and recent alumni with clarification of educational goals and career selection that supports their career pursuits. In addition, this role works with employers to connect students with job opportunities. This position will work specifically on the Dunwoody campus and also support the Alpharetta campus.
Duties include:
• Provide career counseling, career exploration, and career search strategies to individual students and in groups.
• Develop and conduct career-related presentations for academic classes, student organizations, and other related campus units using a variety of delivery formats.
• Promote partnerships, collaborations, and positive relationships to promote the work of university career services to faculty and staff across the Perimeter College campuses and Georgia State community.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers.
• Mount career-related events such as career and job fairs, panels, and networking to connect students with employers.
• Develop career services and career counseling approaches for underrepresented student populations including but not limited to students, non-traditional students, veterans, and returning students.
• Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and college departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and career search needs, including setting student success goals and objectives.
• Contribute to the identification, analysis, and assessment of student success outcomes. Maintain accurate student records and collect data for reporting purposes while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Oversee special programs, retention projects, and activities as assigned.
• Participate fully in the overall activities of university career services.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Candidate Requirements:
Master's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in a college or university setting; experience working with associate degree-seeking students.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates must have knowledge of: career planning and development process, career assessments; job search strategies; general counseling principles; cultural diversity; one-on-one and group counseling; orientation; problem-solving; public speaking, and training; proficiency with career management software; communicate effectively (writing, listening, and speaking).
