    Job Summary

    The Director of the Center for Career Design is responsible for providing vision and leadership for the Center, making it the hub for comprehensive career development for students from their first year to alumni status. The Director is responsible for aligning the Center with the overall mission, vision, and priorities of the University as whole. This position will report directly to the AVP for Community Engagement with a dotted line to the AVP for Student Success.

    Responsibilities

    Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Partner/collaborate with the AVP for Community Development, AVP for Student Success and the Deans of each academic college to implement a comprehensive career development program supporting all students and alumni.; Develop workforce pipelines by collaborating with employers and academic units.; Cultivate jobs and internship opportunities for student by actively engaging and developing relationships with local, regional, and national employers as well as by collaborating with the Alumni Association.; Increase unique opportunities for students to engage with their career fields through microinternships, externships, apprenticeships, practicums, classroom projects, etc.; Partner/collaborate with the AVP for Community Development, AVP for Student Success, and the Faculty Center to expand the number of courses with an experiential learning component, track student participation, and increase the number of students who graduate from CSU with an experiential learning opportunity within their field of study.; Assist in increasing and tracking the number of students working in their discipline or career aspiration.; Maximize the campus's use of existing career tools and technology that can be used by faculty and staff to inform and design careers - current or emerging - (i.e. Steppingblocks, Handshake, Focus2Career, ePortfolio, etc.) as well as other career platforms, assessment tools, and evaluation surveys.; Research and pursue grant opportunities to support innovative strategies to integrate career readiness into the academic curriculum.; Establish metrics and assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of all career development initiatives and activities.; Assist the campus in aligning degree programs to current and future workforce needs in our region and the state of Georgia.; Partner/collaborate with the AVP for Community Development to develop innovative partnerships between industry and our academic degree programs.; Partner/collaborate across campus to develop and maintain unique industry partnerships.; Ensure the center is compliant with all policies and guidelines for recruitment and internships related to the Department of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, and National Association of Colleges of Employers.; Ensure the Center's website is easy to find, user friendly for students, faculty, staff, and employers.; Maintain up-to-date knowledge on economic and employment trends, career development, emerging career fields, etc.; Supervise all Center employees and assist them in developing and implementing a strategic plan for the Center and providing leadership to the Center's programs and services.; Ensuring the effectiveness and efficacy of the Centers programs, services, supporting and training of staff, implementing operational policies and procedures, and managing team's performance.; Assess and report on the efficacy of the Center, its programs, and services through an annual report to include grants or any other reports as needed (i.e. JLD).

    Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications include: Master's degree required or Bachelor's degree with years of related equivalent experience will be considered.; Professional experience in higher education, career development, recruitment/hiring, related field or industry experience.; A minimum of 6 years of supervisory/management/leadership experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications include: 10+ years of supervisory/management/leadership experience, preferred.; Experience working closely with students from diverse backgrounds, knowledge in career coaching, career development program planning, employer relations experience preferred.

    Proposed Salary

    The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $78,162 - $86,432 and includes full benefits.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: In-depth knowledge of the standards and principles of career development as set by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers (GACE), EEOC, and Fair Labor Act.; Up-to-date knowledge and expertise in changing workplace practices, recruiting and employment practices, and trends in economic and workforce development, and scholarship on career/student development.; Experiences with career related platforms and technologies, especially Steppingblocks and Handshake, as well as others.; Highly developed communication and relationship building skills to interact positively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.; Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

    Conditions of Employment

    • A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage;
    • Pre-employment drug testing for positions with high-risk responsibilities.
    • Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.

    For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s).
